Is the looming threat of winter's coldest stretch getting you down? Do you seek an escape from the harsh, frigid conditions on Wall Street?

Then allow Financial Planning to transport you back to the dog days of summer and directly into the heart of Surf City.

This holiday season, unwrap a special look at the Future Proof Festival through a series of interviews with insiders and newsmakers conducted by the Financial Planning editorial team.

In this clip, MLB star Dexter Fowler spoke with Wealthtech Reporter Justin L. Mack about his passion for learning about dollars and cents. The World Series champion says being drafted out of high school, he came into a lot of money very quickly and was unsure of how to handle his newfound wealth at such a young age.

Thankfully, his parents provided a strong foundation, and his penchant as a natural saver kept him on the right track. Now he's on a mission to learn even more and share that knowledge with the next generation of baseball superstars.

Mack, a Cleveland native, also does his best to move past the fact that Fowler hit the historic, game 7 leadoff home run that would help the Chicago Cubs secure a pivotal W over Cleveland in the 2016 World Series.

Future Proof, an event billed as the first wealth festival, attracted more than 2,200 people to Huntington Beach, California, earlier this year. Financial Planning was a sponsor of the event. Dates for Future Proof 2023 have already been announced. The event is slated to return to the beach Sept. 10-13, 2023.
