As the President and Chief Investment Officer, Dan is responsible for all investment management and trading operations. He joined Direxion in 1999 and plays a leading role in the development and launch of new products and value added services for advisors and investors. He is a member of the Direxion Executive Management Committee. \nPrior to joining Direxion Funds, he served as Portfolio Manager: Private Equity Investments at Hermitage Capital Management Limited in Moscow, Russia. His responsibilities included monitoring investments by two hedge funds in illiquid Russian equities. Dan earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the editorial board for Virginia Law Review. He holds a BA in English and Economics from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he was a Jefferson Scholar.

Jim completed his B.A.Sc. (Bachelor of Applied Sciences) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto in 1975. Subsequently, he received his M.Eng. (Master of Engineering) degree at the same university. After spending several years in engineering and investing for his own account, he started his financial planning career in 1995. He is the author of several books; the most recent one is Unveiling the Retirement Myth Advanced Retirement Planning based on Market History. It is a non-Gaussian approach to retirement planning. Before that, he wrote High Expectations & False Dreams One Hundred Years of Stock Market History Applied to Retirement Planning, where he first pointed out the devastating effects of the sequence of returns, market cycles, the luck factor and the time value of fluctuations. His first book was about Canadian dividend reinvestment plansHe contributed a chapter to "Retirement Income Redesigned - Master Plans for Distribution", a book by Bloomberg Press, published in 2006. He also contributed content for Canadian Securities Institute courses on distribution planning. He has written over a hundred articles and numerous portfolio reviews for various magazines on retirement planning internationally since 1996. He is quoted in the news media on retirement and financial planning issues. Jim's expertise stems from applying his engineering and technical analysis background to retirement planning. His article series in Retirement Planning won him the prestigious CFP-Board Award for 2001. He won this award a second time in 2002 on the same subject about market cycles and sequence of returns. Timothy Noonan is managing director capital markets insights for Russell Investments. Timothy heads the group responsible for shaping and delivering clients services strategy, and delivering capital markets information to private client advisors. He is a senior advisor to Russell's chairman of the private client services investment advice and policy committee. He is a member of Russell's global innovation council where he represents Russell's global retail service line. Tim also heads the China\/India workgroup. He currently shares his time between Russell's London office and the U.S. Headquarters in Tacoma, Washington.\nTimothy joined Russell in 1992 from the Lotus Development Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he helped to pioneer real-time spreadsheet product development for securities trading applications. Upon joining Russell he initially supervised the re-engineering of Russell's performance measurement and asset allocation analytic software suite.\nIn 1994, he was appointed assistant to the global chief investment officer, a post he held through 1999, specializing in high net worth investment product design.\nIn 1999 Timothy transferred to Russell's U.S. distribution business to manage development of new business partnerships, Russell's U.S. individual investor services business. He led that effort through 2006, chairing Russell's business acceptance committee responsible for vetting all new distribution relationships in the U.S.\nIn 2006 Timothy was appointed head of product development and management for Russell's U.S. private client services business, at which time he formed the capital markets insights group, its charter is to keep advisors informed of Russell's viewpoints on a broad range of investment research, economical and market environment, product and client service topics. In addition to those duties, he also frequently represents Russell at client and industry events and with the media.
