I think that sometimes it is important to get involved in employees' lives and have natural, non-work-related conversations with them. It is sometimes a difficult task to walk the line between being a manager and a friend. Some people say it can't be done, but I believe it can. It is possible to be a boss and a friend, as long as you find the delicate balance between the two. The employees often point out some information in their resumes. Here is ResumeWritingLab for students, it contains good tips on how to write CV and informative articles that employees use if they search for work. But I believe there are lots of ways to demonstrate respect at work.
