Former Wasatch Team Launches Grandeur Peak Funds

Former Wasatch Portfolio Managers Robert Gardiner and Blake Walker, who formed Grandeur Peak Global Advisors, have launched their first two mutual funds: the Grandeur Peak Global Opportunities Fund and the Grandeur Peak International Opportunities Fund.

The Global Opportunities Fund will invest in 100 to 150 stocks of small and micro-cap companies in the U.S. and around the world, including emerging markets—but the portfolio managers will adjust their holdings to cover areas of the globe they see the greatest growth.

The International Opportunities Fund will also invest in 100 to 150 stocks of small and micro-cap companies, but only those outside of the U.S.

“In a world where business is increasingly global and country boundaries continue to blur, we believe the best long-term investment opportunities can be uncovered by investors who are fully canvassing the world to find and consider each company within its global context,” Gardiner said. Grandeur Peak will conduct “hands-on,” bottom-up research, including close valuation analysis, to find “interesting companies in every part of the world,” he added.
