To oversee its growing operations in the Northeast, Raymond James & Associates recruited a manager from Morgan Stanley, the company said.
Bill Drew will serve as complex manager of the regional BD’s new Southern New England complex, which includes branches in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and northern Connecticut.
The St. Petersburg, Florida-based firm has been pursuing growth in the Northeast for several years, recruiting advisors and opening new branches.
“The Northeast continues to be one of the most important and strategic markets for the firm, and we are excited to welcome Bill as a key leader for RJA in that area,” Tom Galvin, the firm’s North Atlantic regional director, said in a statement.

While at Morgan Stanley, Drew oversaw operations for the firm’s Boston Harbor Complex, according to his new employer. He possesses 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, having worked for Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firm Smith Barney, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Connecticut.
A spokeswoman for Morgan Stanley declined a request for a comment on Drew’s departure.
Drew cited that Raymond James’ brand and reputation as factors that attracted him to the company. “The marketplace is looking for a firm where advisors have the flexibility and control to run their practices and where they truly own their book of business,” said Drew.
