A Columbia PM Calls It Quits

Stephen Barbaro, co-portfolio manager of the Columbia Small Cap Value Fund I, is retiring at the end of the year, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Until then, Barbaro will continue to serve as a portfolio manager of the fund with Jeremy Javidi and John Barrett. Barbaro has co-PMed the 3-star, $1.6 billion fund since June 2002. The fund returned -6.65% in Q2 versus -2.75% for the S&P 500.

Spokesmen for the firm were not immediately available for comment on Barbaro’s impending retirement.
