Boston-based Fred Alger & Company, Inc. is ramping up its sales force with two new additions.

Philip Casparius has joined the firm as Director of National Accounts from Fidelity Investments Institutional Services, where he served as Director of National Sales, responsible for sales of Fidelity’s mutual fund and retirement products sold through financial advisors, wirehouses, and RIAs.

In addition, David Zappone joins as a regional marketing manager for Southern California from The Hartford, where he was most recently responsible for variable annuities in Southern California and the Pacific Northwest.

Fred Alger was founded in 1964 and as of March 31, 2012 managed approximately $17 billion.

The firm last month also hired Jeffrey P. Leone as a regional marketing manager for the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. markets from Planco/Hartford, and Steven J. Zimmerman in the same role for Michigan and Ohio from Pyxis Capital.
