Berger Launches Small-Cap Fund Focusing on Undervalued Stocks

Berger Financial Group of Denver, the investment manager for Berger Funds, has launched the Berger Small Cap Value Fund II, a fund that invests primarily in undervalued stocks of small firms.

Officials at the company said their investors are increasingly interested in small-cap portfolios and, with the firm's acquisition of Bay Isle Financial last year, it now has a team in place to oversee such a product.

Bill Schaff, who co-founded San Francisco-based Bay Isle, will serve as lead portfolio manager of the team. Shares of the fund are available directly through Berger and will be offered via supermarkets by the end of the month.
