BNY Mellon Wealth Management Continues Hiring Spree on Both Coasts

BNY Mellon Wealth Management made two senior hires in Boston and San Diego that are part of its recruiting campaign to increase its sales force by 50% in top U.S. wealth markets by the end of next year.

First, the firm hired Peter McManus as senior director for business development in Boston. McManus reports to Frederick Young, managing director, and will focus on Boston’s North Shore where he lives, a company spokesman said in an email.

McManus is the fourth new hire in New England this year. The company also added a senior director to serve central Massachusetts in September and a director based in Boston in May. And last month, it added a sales director for the Providence, Rhode Island region.

With more than 35 years of experience, McManus joins BNY Mellon from Granite Investment Advisors where he was a senior vice president and head of business development. Prior to that, he was partner and account manager at Cadence Capital Management.

Separately, BNY Mellon Wealth Management also hired Edward Kearney in California as senior director for business development. He reports to Shannon Kennedy, regional president for Southern California’s Orange and San Diego counties.

Kearney joins BNY Mellon from ARAG North America, a global provider of legal services, where he was managing director of sales. Prior to that, he served in several roles with the Ayco Co., a unit of Goldman Sachs. Over the course of 11 years with that firm, he directed teams focused on selling financial counseling and educational services.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management has nearly $180 billion in private client assets with offices in 35 countries.
