Bond Funds Experience Inflows

Equity funds? Not so much. Total estimated inflows to long-term mutual funds were $3.90 billion for the week ended Wednesday, May 16, according to data from the Investment Company Institute.

Equity funds had estimated outflows of $3.56 billion for the week, compared to estimated outflows of $1.30 billion in the previous week. Domestic equity funds had estimated outflows of $3.45 billion, while estimated outflows to world equity funds were $117 million.

Hybrid funds, which can invest in stocks and fixed income securities, had estimated inflows of $243 million for the week, compared to estimated inflows of $627 million in the previous week.

Bond funds had estimated inflows of $7.22 billion, compared to estimated inflows of $7.59 billion during the previous week. Taxable bond funds saw estimated inflows of $5.98 billion, while municipal bond funds had estimated inflows of $1.24 billion.
