Chinese Firm Targets U.S. Retail Investors

Beijing, China-Harvest Fund Management is taking a stab at the U.S. market with the launch of New York-based Harvest Krane, which will distribute China and Asia-focused mutual funds to institutional and retail investors in the U.S.

The first offering in the U.S. is the Harvest Funds Intermediate Bond Fund (HXIIX), which will bet on investment grade and high-yield China bonds.

“Most U.S. investors are under-allocated to China and Asia, particularly in light of China’s growing role in the global economy,” stated Jonathan Krane, chief executive officer of Harvest Krane. “The opportunity to close that allocation gap is extraordinary. We are delivering to the U.S. investor community income and growth opportunities from the Chinese and Asian capital markets, leveraging our local Chinese research and managers.”

Harvest Fund Management currently manages some $50 billion in retail and institutional assets.
