E*Trade Seeks to Add Index Funds

E*Trade Group of Palo Alto, Calif., filed a registration statement last week with the SEC to introduce two new index funds - the E*Trade Extended Market Index and the E*Trade Aggregate Bond Index. E*Trade introduced its first index fund, the E*Trade S&P 500 Index Fund, earlier this year.

The Extended Market Index will seek to track the performance of the Wilshire 450 Index of mid- and small-cap firms. The Total Bond Index Fund will track the performance of the Lehman Brother Government/Corporate Bond Index of 5,000 fixed-income securities.
