Eaton Vance Corp. announced that Eaton Vance Equity Research Fund is available to the public. Thus far, the four-year-old fund has only been available to the company and its employees.
The fund aims to create long-term capital appreciation through investing in a diversified portfolio of equity securities. The fund's intention is to maintain investments in virtually all sectors represented in the Standard& Poor's 500 Composite Index.
Eaton Vance's equity analysts, who specialize in one particular area, select securities for the fund's portfolio. The analysts choose allocations among market sectors collectively, under the lead of Walter A. Row, III, Eaton Vance's director of equity research and the fund's portfolio coordinator. The 14 analysts at Eaton have a collective average of 16 years investment experience.
"The Fund is designed to highlight the stock-picking skills of our equity analysts and to take advantage of their in-depth knowledge of the companies and industries they follow closely," commented Duncan W. Richardson, senior vice president and chief equity investment officer at Eaton Vance. "In this market environment, effective stock picking is crucial to equity investment success. The Fund's results to date demonstrate the stock selection capabilities of our equity research team."
The decisions for investments are based on fundamental research analysis, focusing on various company-specific and broad business, economic and market factors that affect the future performance of companies and stocks. The fund seeks to minimize risk through exhaustive securities analysis, meticulous portfolio construction and broad diversification.
