Erick Kanter, founder and president of Kanter & Associates and for more than a decade a public relations executive with the Investment Company Institute, died Nov. 23 of a brain aneurysm. His passing away at age 62 was sudden and unexpected, his firm said Monday.

Kanter, a well-respected industry veteran, founded his public relations firm specializing in investment management in 1995 after having served as head of the public information and marketing department at the ICI for 11 years. During that time, he became a familiar face on business television and founded the ICI’s Journalism Awards Program for Excellence in Personal Finance Reporting, in cooperation with American University .
