ETFs Lose $6B in April

Total exchange-traded fund assets fell in April by $6.23 billion to $1.187 trillion, according to data from the Investment Company Institute.

Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $73.74 billion, or 6.6 percent with domestic equity ETFs jumping to $40.83 billion since April 2011, and global equity ETFs assets falling $24.51 billion during this period.

At the end of April 2012, assets of bond funds were $208.98 billion and hybrid funds were $440 million.
