Putnam Names a New Product Chief

Putnam Investments has named Scott C. Sipple as head of investment product management and development, responsible for overseeing the firm's equity, fixed income and global asset allocation product management and development teams.

In addition to his new role, Sipple, who joined Putnam in 2009, will continue to oversee Putnam's strategic relationship function, which works with the asset management research platforms of major U.S. financial services firms. Sipple continues to report to William T. Connolly, head of global distribution.

Former head of marketing and product, Jeffrey R. Carney, who reportedly left the firm to join Charles Schwab Corp. as head its retail branch network, will not be replaced, accroding to Robert L. Reynolds, president and chief executive officer,

Altegris Fills a New Marketing Post

La Jolla, Calif.-based Altegris, an alternative mutual fund shop, has hired Amy Bennett as its new director, sales strategy and channel marketing, reporting to Andrea Trachtenberg, chief marketing officer.

In her new role, Bennett will be responsible for developing and implementing sales-marketing strategy across all channels, including the development of strategy-related, sales communications such as Advisor Training modules, continuing education credit programs and thought leadership for the Altegris Academy Advisor Center.

Bennett hails from Guggenheim Investments, where she served as the program marketing director. Previously, Bennett served as strategic product manager at BlackRock, Inc.

Goldman Shifts Top Equities Positions

Goldman Sachs has reshuffled a number of senior positions in its equities division in response recent executive departures.

An official familiar with the situation confirmed that three executives, Paul Russo, Michael Daffey and Marty Chavez, were appointed to serve as co-chief operating officers for the division. They will be responsible for managing the business, includes equity sales and training and implementing all strategy.

Previously, Russo was head of U.S. equity trading, while Daffey was head of global equity sales. Meanwhile, Chavez was head of a quantitative group within the securities division.

Moreover, Enrico Gaglioti becomes head of global equity sales. Before that, he was head of Americas equity sales. And John Willian becomes global head of securities services, futures and clearing.
