Former Putnam Exec Joins GoldK as EVP

Jeffrey Miller has joined online retirement plan administrator and record keeper GoldK as executive vice president and global director of distribution. In addition to providing administrative services, GoldK offers retirement education and a selection of investments from 25 fund families.

In this new position at the firm, Miller will serve as director of all sales channels and head of strategic partnerships both domestically and internationally. He reports to Troy Shaver, vice chairman of GoldK.

Miller was previously with Putnam Investments as managing director of private asset management. In this role, he led Putnam's entry into the separate account business. In his seven years at Putnam, Miller held various senior management positions, including head of Putnam's European business development.

"In my view, GoldK represents the present and future of the retirement-services business. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow an entrepreneurial business that has already established significant momentum," Miller said. "We have just begun to tap into the market's large potential."

Dimensional Hires Head Of European Marketing

Dimensional Fund Advisors has hired Philip Nash as its European marketing director.

The company said the move is part of an effort to expand its offshore operations. Nash will focus on institutional funds in the UK as well as in other European countries and the Middle East. He will report to David Salisbury, CEO of Dimensional's European operations.

Nash previously worked as a director at Barclay's Global Investors. He has also worked for Frank Russell Co. and Nomura Capital Management. At Barclay's, he most recently managed client business in western central Europe.

Transamerica Hires DC Veteran

Transamerica Investment Management announced last week that it has named Toby Cromwell vice president of institutional sales, a new position at the firm.

Cromwell will be responsible for the sales and marketing of Transamerica's defined benefit and defined contribution businesses. He will be based in the firm's Denver office.

Cromwell joins Transamerica from INVESCO, where he served as regional vice president of the defined contribution alliance team in the firm's retirement unit. In that role, he managed sales and marketing to major financial institutions in the West. Prior to that, he helped to build and implement INVESCO's 401(k) product for small businesses.

Transamerica currently manages $13 billion in mutual fund and separate account assets for institutions, pension funds and variable annuity and variable life insurance accounts.

Reserve Promotes Liss To Oversee Institutions

Reserve Management Co., investment advisor to the Reserve Funds, has promoted Ira Liss to institutional relationship manager. He will be responsible for sales to and service for Reserve's institutional money fund clients.

Liss joined Reserve in 2001 from First Institutional Securities as a business strategy consultant. He helped Reserve identify strong products and services and develop marketing strategies.

"Ira has demonstrated excellence in defining the objectives of business strategy consultant and building the infrastructure for this newly created position since he joined us," said Eric Lansky, senior vice president of marketing for Reserve. "In his new role, he will communicate with institutional clients to identify their needs, provide direction and evaluate their progress, bringing added-value to clients."

Reserve offers 17 money market funds, seven equity funds and other cash management products and services. The firm manages more than $15 billion in assets.

Littauer Joins Dreman As President

Thomas Littauer has been named president of Dreman Value Management, a New York-based investment management firm with approximately $7.6 billion in assets under management.

Littauer previously was a managing director at Scudder Kemper Investments, where he served as head of the firm's Asia Pacific and Americas Global Mutual Fund Group. He was also chairman of the board of the Scudder Global Opportunities Funds. Prior to that, Littauer served as president of Kemper Funds.

Dreman and Scudder have an existing relationship, as Dreman sub-advises three of Scudder's mutual funds: the Scudder-Dreman High Return Fund, the Scudder-Dreman Small Cap Value Fund and the Scudder-Dreman Financial Services Fund.

Earlier in his career, Littauer served as a managing director in Putnam Investments' broker/dealer division. He also spent six years with Fidelity Investments, where he held a number of positions, including president of client management services and executive vice president of strategic advisors. He also served on the board of directors for Fidelity Investments Canada.

"Tom's vast experience in the mutual fund business will be a strength in our firm as we look to him to help grow the business," said David Dreman, founder and chief investment officer, in a statement.
