Executive Moves

Gonzalez Now Touchstone Southeast Vice President

Dan Gonzalez, whose most recent role saw him work close to Touchstone Investments as its parent company's internal wholesaler, now works for Touchstone itself, as the company's new Southeast regional vice president in charge of mutual fund wholesaling.

For the past three years, Gonzalez had worked for Western & Southern Financial Group, Touchstone's parent company, marketing funds and annuities to wirehouses and other third-party distributors. Before that, he worked in a similar capacity for Integrity Life.

"Dan Gonzalez has cultivated a track record of results-focused sales initiatives," said Touchstone President Jim Grifo. "We are confident that he will bring tremendous value to our fund sales efforts in the Southeast region."

Fishkin to Oversee SEC's Risk Management Office

To fill the position of director of its new Office of Risk Management, the Securities and Exchange Commission has tapped Charles A. Fishkin. Reporting directly to SEC Chairman William Donaldson, Fishkin will oversee risk management across the agency. The 44-year-old comes to the SEC from Fidelity Investments, where he oversaw the company's risk oversight unit. A board member of the International Association of Financial Engineers, Fishkin is a prolific writer and practitioner of risk management issues.

"It is a special honor to join the SEC at this important point in the agency's history," Fishkin said. "There is a tremendous amount of intellectual capital at the Commission and I look forward to working with these talented and dedicated professionals."

Donaldson said Fishkin's qualifications stemmed from his "skills and expertise in the field of risk management" and his "firsthand knowledge and keen understanding of the capital markets."

Scheuring, Karpel to Head GIS Business Development

Global Investment Systems has hired former Automatic Data Processing Managing Director David Scheuring and former Mobius Management Systems Major Accounts Manager Joyce Karpel to cover, between them, two-thirds of the company's United States and Caribbean territories. Both will be charged with creating business in the mutual fund and hedge fund industries, as well as pension funds. Nigel Wilson, chief executive officer of GIS, said his company's new MHedge and MPartner platforms had been generating more interest, making the hiring of Scheuring and Karpel, who have 39 years of financial services industry experience between them, timely. Wilson cited new contracts with, among others, Mellon Bank and Brandywine Asset Management, and added that "more new contracts and alliances are imminent."

Integrated Taps McCabe For Fund Accounting Post

Western & Southern Financial Group subsidiary Integrated Fund Services has hired Steve McCabe as vice president of fund accounting and financial reporting. In his new role, McCabe, who most recently worked at Fifth Third Bancorp, will be in charge of monitoring and expanding Integrated's fund accounting and financial reporting, according to company President Scott Englehart. During his time at Cincinnati-based Fifth Third, McCabe served as vice president of custody services, investment operations and mutual funds. Before that, he was a VP for R. Meeder & Associates.
