Baron Appoints Jacobs Chief Distribution Officer

Baron Capital has named Brian Jacobs chief distribution officer, in charge of the retail, intermediary and institutional sales channels and reporting to President and Chief Operating Officer Linda Martinson.

A 25-year veteran of the mutual fund industry, Jacobs joins the firm from Allianz, where he was managing director and head of sales for PIMCO and Allianz Funds for eight years. Before that, he spent a full decade at Eaton Vance as national sales director. He also worked as director of mutual fund sales at Lexington Mutual Funds and began his career at First Investors Corp. as a financial adviser.

Chief Executive Officer Ron Baron noted: "Brian has a strong track record in building and managing successful asset management distribution businesses, and we're delighted to welcome him."

Jacobs served as chairman of the board of governors for the Money Management Institute in 2008 and is a board member of the Foundation for Financial Planning.

Financial Industry Veteran Mintos Joins Beacon Hill

Stephen G. Mintos has joined Beacon Hill Fund Services as vice president of business development, in charge of all sales activities at Beacon Hill Fund Services, which offers outsourced distribution, chief compliance officer, chief financial officer and general mutual fund, exchange-traded fund and hedge fund consulting services.

"We are pleased to have Steve join our team," said Scott A. Englehart, president of Beacon Hill Fund Services. "Steve brings 30 years of experience in the financial services business, and the relationships he has formed during that time will enhance Beacon Hill's growth opportunities in a competitive marketplace." Mintos said he would make it his first goal to leverage the firm's existing "relationships and expand our name recognition."

Federated Names Madden Chairman of the Board for Premier Municipal Fund

Federated Investors has named Peter E. Madden chairman of the board for the Federated Premier Municipal Income Fund and the Federated Premier Intermediate Municipal Income Fund. He has served on the board for the two funds since 2002.

Before accepting this post, Madden was president and chief operating officer of State Street Bank and Trust and State Street Corp, initially retiring from the financial services industry in 1991 to then serve as a representative in the Massachusetts state legislature for the next two years.

Earlier in his career, Madden was chairman for the Massachusetts Bankers Association and a member of the boards of Visa, the Boston Stock Exchange, the Depository Trust Corp., and the Boston Chamber of Commerce.

Madden succeeds John E. Murray, Jr., who retired after six years of service on the board.

New York Life Taps Siciliano for New Position

New York Life Investments has selected John Siciliano as senior managing director and head of the firm's investment boutiques, a new position. He now oversees the firm's five external investment boutiques: Madison Square Investors, MacKay Shields, McMorgan & Co., New York Life Capital Partners and Institutional Capital. He reports to New York Life President and Chief Executive Officer John Kim.

Siciliano was previously managing director at Grail Partners, where he also served on boards of two portfolio companies, Creighton Capital Management and Hillcrest Asset Management, as well as chair of Grail Advisors. "This is a critical position." Kim said.
