Fidelity Investments of Boston has begun construction of a new facility in Marlborough, Mass. to accommodate an additional 2,000 employees, the company announced.
Fidelity does not have immediate plans to expand its Massachusetts workforce of 13,200 by an additional 2,000 employees, but wants to be prepared for the growth of its benefits outsourcing and 401(k) retirement services businesses in the near future, a Fidelity spokesperson said.
Fidelity's Marlborough facility currently has 3,000 employees. Once construction of the additional 125,000 square feet is completed by 2002, the facility will be able to accommodate 5,000 employees, the company said.
