Fidelity Shuffles Select Fund Managers

Fidelity Investments has announced five new portfolio managers on its Select funds group.

Andrew Hatem is the new manager of the Fidelity Select Air Transportation Portfolio, while Jill Jortner has taken over the helm of the Select Transportation Portfolio. Both succeed Harlan Carere, who will concentrate solely on other funds he oversees, the Select Biotechnology Portfolio and the Fidelity Advisor Biotechnology Fund.

The appointments are promotions for both Hatem and Jortner, who had been equity research analysts, Hatem specializing in the aerospace, airline and government IT industries and Jortner in railroads, tankers and specialty chemical companies.

Matthew Sabel is the new portfolio manager of the Select Medical Delivery Portfolio, succeeding Jonathan Zang. Sabel, too, was an equity research analyst, specializing in medical delivery stocks.

Zang now becomes manager of the Select Natural Gas Portfolio, taking over for Naved Khan. Zang will continue managing the Select Medical Deliver Portfolio, while Khan moves into equity research for technology.

Finally, Ian Gutterman, who had been an analyst on healthcare stocks with Fidelity, is the new manager of the Select Pharmaceuticals Portfolio, succeeding Gavin Baker. Fidelity did not indicate what Baker's new role would be.
