Firm Tells Retirees: ‘Don’t Fear 65’

Symetra Financial has launched a new awareness campaign titled “Don’t Fear 65,” laying out a path for retirees to live a worry-free retirement.

The campaign, featured on www.dontfear65.com and various financial and media websites, confronts widely held anxieties and misperceptions about retirement, such as having enough money to send grandchildren cash on their birthdays and being able to afford a vacation to tour vineyards in the wine country.

“Retirement should be a time to celebrate life,” said Jim Pirak, vice president of corporate marketing at Symetra. “Unfortunately, too many Americans live in fear of retirement, concerned about things like whether their money will last. Don’t Fear 65 is about changing that mindset and showcasing ways to experience a retirement free of worry and full of optimism.”

The videos depict average retirees rallying each other to stand up to retirement without fear. In one video, a woman shouts, “65, we’ve discovered the difference between just being retired and experiencing the retirement we’ve always dreamed of! It’s time to start living! So take that, 65!”
