Fishkin Rewarded With SEC Risk Job

To fill the position of director of its new Office of Risk Management, the Securities and Exchange Commission has tapped Charles A. Fishkin.

Reporting directly to Chairman William Donaldson, Fishkin will oversee risk management all across the agency. The 44-year-old comes to the SEC from Fidelity Invesments, where he oversaw the company’s risk oversight unit. A board member of the International Association of Financial Engineers, Fishkin is a prolific writer and practitioner of risk management issues.

"It is a special honor to join the SEC at this important point in the agency's history," Fishkin said. "There is a tremendous amount of intellectual capital at the Commission and I look forward to working with these talented and dedicated professionals."

Donaldson said Fishkin’s qualifications stemmed from his "skills and expertise in the field of risk management" and his "first-hand knowledge and keen understanding of the capital markets."
