Former Governor and Bush Spokesperson Elected to MassMutual Board

Marc Racicot, Bush's Campaign Spin Doctor, Named Director

Former Montana Governor Marc Racicot, who served as a key spokesperson to the campaign of George W. Bush as the drama over the presidential election unfolded last year, has been elected to the board of MassMutual Financial Group, the company announced yesterday.

Racicot, who served as the state's governor from 1993 through this year, will become a board member of the financial company August 1.

Racicot, now a partner with the Washington, D.C. law firm Bracwell & Patterson where he specializes in energy and trade law, previously served as Montana's Assistant Attorney General and Special Prosecutor and, eventually, Attorney General. He was also being considered by the Bush Administration for the position of Attorney General

MassMutual, the marketing name for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, is a conglomerate of subsidiaries, including Oppenheimer Funds. Its member companies held assets of more than $213 billion as of Dec. 31, 2000.
