Forward Boosts Healthcare Division

Forward Management has added two investment analysts to their global healthcare investment team.

Tim McCandless will serve as senior life sciences analyst, while Greg Butz will serve as therapeutics analyst. Both report to portfolio manager Scott Kay, who leads the healthcare investment team. 

“Having members with deep and focused industry experience is crucial to our work of evaluating uncovered opportunities across the healthcare universe,” Kay said in a press release.

Forward launched in January 2013 its long/short equity strategy, which takes capitalizes on disruptions in the rapidly changing healthcare sector.

Prior to joining Forward, McCandless served as senior equity analyst at Bel Air Investment Advisors covering three sectors including healthcare investments. Prior to that, he was a principal at Chapman Capital

Butz previously served as a director in the healthcare investment banking group at Credit Suisse and vice president in the healthcare investment banking group at Morgan Stanley.

Forward is an independent, privately held firm that serves as adviser to the Forward Funds. It managed more than $5.7 billion as of Dec. 31, 2012.
