Amy Domini, founder of the Domini Social Index of 400 ethical investments, has been selected as a recipient of the National Caring Award.
Domini is one of ten individuals selected from thousands of nominees for the award, according to Frank Moss, chairman of the Caring Institute of Washington, D.C. She "is being honored for creating a unique program to steer investors towards ethical corporations," the institute said.
The Domini Social Index has outperformed the S&P over the last ten years and her success has led to the creation of dozens of indices based on socially-responsible stocks, according to the institute. Domini is president of Domini Social Investments of New York, which manages the Domini Social Equity Fund and the Domini Social Bond Fund.
