The median compensation for investment professionals at mutual fund companies, a group that includes portfolio managers, analysts and top executives, is $196,000, according to a study made public July 20. The median pay for people with these titles at pension consulting groups is $95,000, according to a survey of more than 8,500 investment professionals sponsored by the Association for Investment Management and Research of Charlottesville, Va., and Russell Reynolds Associates of New York.
Other levels of median compensation for these professionals included $185,000 at broker/dealers, $150,000 at insurance companies, $128,000 at banks and $104,200 for endowments, plan sponsors and foundations. Overall median compensation for investment professionals was $150,000, according to the survey.
