GaveKal Renames Fund

Denver-based GaveKal Capital renamed its fund company the GaveKal Knowledge Leaders Fund. The fund company was previously known as the GaveKal Platform Company Fund.

Although the name will be new, the fund’s objective, strategy and management remain the same, according to the firm. The fund will continue to be managed by portfolio manager Steven Vannelli.

“As the fund grows and is considered by greater numbers of potential investors, we believe the broader investment community will be better served by a more intuitive name,” stated Shawn Paulk, head of distribution for GaveKal Capital.

The fund’s Advisor Class shares (GAVAX), which represents $19.2 million of the fund, carry an expense ratio of 150 basis points. Its Institutional Class shares (GAVIX), which represent $73.9 million, and carry an expense ratio of 125 bps, returned 12.5% year-to-date.

GaveKal Capital is the U.S. money management arm of GaveKal Research Ltd., a Hong Kong-based independent research boutique, and has more than $400 million in assets under management.
