Investors can now buy options on the HealthShares Emerging Cancer exchange-traded fund through the Philadelphia Stock Exchange electronic trading platform, the exchange announced.

HealthShares is a series of ETFs sponsored by New York-based Xshares Advisors that track 20 segments areas of the healthcare industry. The ETFs, which launched in January, trade on the New York Stock Exchange.

“HealthShares exchange-traded funds represent an opportunity for portfolio managers to gain exposure to the fast-growing global health care industry,” said Daniel Carrigan, president of new products at the Philadelphia exchange. 

Xshares President Jeffrey Feldman noted the increased flexibility offering an option on this ETF through a different exchange offers.

“With the introduction of this option on HHJ, investors will have even more tools available for hem to invest in the healthcare sector,” he said.
