Albert "Chip" Elfner III, president and chief executive officer of Evergreen Investment Company has announced he plans to retire on June 30, 1999. Christopher P. Conkey, senior portfolio manager and chief investment officer of the firm's fixed income group in Boston, will become the new president and chief investment officer. The two will work together over the next six months to ease the transition. Conkey, who has managed the Evergreen Diversified Bond Fund, the Intermediate Term Bond Fund and the fixed income portion of the bond fund, announced the following portfolio manager changes: Gary Pzegeo will manage the Diversified Bond Fund, the fixed income portion of the Balanced Fund and become group head of the high grade bond team. David Bowers will manage the Intermediate Term Bond Fund.

Liberty Funds Distributor announced several promotions. Regional sales directors Kim Emerson, James Devaney, Matthew Goldberg, Richard (Rick) Ballou, Valerie Madesker-Wess and David Schulman, were made senior vice presidents. All will continue to sell in their current markets.
