Janney grabs 2 teams with $373M from Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch

Janney Montgomery Scott added two teams with a combined AUM of $373 million from Wells Fargo Advisors and Merrill Lynch, according to a company spokesman.

The announcement comes two weeks after the regional BD decided to strengthen ties to the banking sector by buying FIG Partners for an undisclosed amount. Earlier in March, the firm snapped up five advisors with a combined n AUM of $444 million from the aforementioned wirehouses.

Among the firm’s newest hires are Donna Judge and Scott Trevethan, who joined the firm’s branch in Glastonbury, Connecticut, from Wells Fargo Advisors. The group previously oversaw $184 million, according to their new employer. Judge and Trevethan have 26 and 23 years of financial experience, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. Judge had been with Wells Fargo, or its predecessor firm A.G. Edwards, since 2001. Trevethan joined the wirehouse from MML Investor Services in 2007.

Also joining Judge-Trevethan Wealth Advisors is senior registered private client associate Rachel Sorrentino.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Janney hired the Fried Mouro Group, headed by advisors Philip Fried and Robert Mouro. The team was previously with Merrill Lynch where the advisors oversaw $189 million in client assets, according to Janney.

Fried and Mouro have 24 and 15 years of industry experience, respectively.

Fried moved to Merrill from UBS in 2008. Mouro spent the entirety of his career at Merrill Lynch.

A spokeswoman for Wells Fargo declined to comment on the departures. A Merrill Lynch spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment.
