Coming off another big recruiting year, Janney Montgomery Scott secured its first hire of 2020: a former Morgan Stanley team that oversaw $335 million in client assets.
The five-woman advisory team joined the Philadelphia-based brokerage in nearby Berwyn, Pennsylvania and will also maintain a presence in Janney’s office in Lewes, Delaware.
They join the 44 advisors Janney hired in 2019. The firm has been on a years-long push to attract fresh talent, primarily from its larger wirehouse rivals. The 2019 hires oversaw $3.4 billion in client assets and comprised 11 teams operating from 23 branch offices.
Since 2015, Janney has recruited more than 240 advisors. It hired 53 advisors in 2018.
“Our accessible, client-focused, values-driven culture continues to attract talented financial advisors as evident in our 2019 additions,” Janney president Jerry Lombard said in a statement.
The firm’s newest team is led by advisors Dawn Dupre and Megan Keating. Moving with them are advisors Mary Anne Perrone and Sarah Smith, as well as senior registered private client associate Kathleen Fisher.
Dupre points to Janney’s culture, platform and back-office support as reasons for making the move, emphasizing these assets would help the group better serve clients.
“High-touch personal relationships with clients are at the center of our business,” she said in a statement.
Dupre and Keating are industry veterans with 25 and 20 years of experience, respectively. Dupre joined Morgan Stanley from CCO Investment Services in 2013, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. Keating had been with the wirehouse since 2009, having previously worked at Merrill Lynch.
Perrone started her career at E.F. Hutton in 1986, according to Brokercheck. She has past experience at Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney. Smith started her advisory career at Morgan Stanley in 2014.
A spokeswoman for Morgan Stanley declined to comment.
