Janney recruiting sweep nets 5 advisors with $375M

Janney Montgomery Scott recruited five advisors managing $375 million in combined client assets, the firm said.

Four of the new hires came from the firm’s wirehouse competitors, furthering a migration of talent from big brokerages to small regional broker-dealers.

Among Janney’s new recruits is Jimmy Hare, an advisor with 31 years of industry experience, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. Hare was previously affiliated with Wells Fargo, where he served as a branch manager and managed $124.5 million in assets, according to his new employer. Hare is based in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Another Wells Fargo defector is Daniel Fisher, who joined Janney in Columbus, Ohio, where he teamed up with an existing Janney advisor, Jeramy May. The two men had worked together at Wells Fargo until May’s departure from the wirehouse in 2018.

“Dan and I have a long history of working together and share the same personalized wealth management approach for our clients,” May said in a statement.

Fisher previously oversaw $52 million in assets.

A Wells Fargo spokeswoman declined to comment on their departures.

One of several recent hires at Janney Montgomery Scott, Thomas Seger previously managed $69 million, according to his new employer.

Janney also picked up two advisors from Morgan Stanley. Sheryl Oswald joined the firm in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Oswald oversaw $23 million in assets while at Morgan, where she worked for three years, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records.

Abraham Horowitz joined Janney in Miami. He oversaw $106 million in assets at Morgan, where he’d worked since 2011, and previously worked at Raymond James. Horowitz’s new branch manager, Frank Amigo, is a former Raymond James manager.

Janney’s fifth hire, Thomas Seger, is also a Raymond James alum. He joined the regional firm in Newtown, Pennsylvania. Seger managed $69 million in assets while at Raymond James, according to Janney. He had worked at Raymond James for 16 years prior to making the move, according to BrokerCheck.

Spokeswomen for Morgan Stanley and Raymond James were unavailable for immediate comment.

Janney has approximately 850 advisors.
