Janney scores five advisors with $444M in AUM

Janney Montgomery Scott’s hired five financial advisors who collectively managed $444 million, according to the firm.

The Philadelphia-based firm and other regional BDs have reported a surge in new hires in recent years, a trend that has not slackened in 2019.

Among Janney’s newest hires is Michael Hassell who previously served as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch. Hassell joined Janney in Radnor, Pennsylvania. He has past worked experience at Smith Barney, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. He has $143 in AUM, according to Janney.

In Mystic, Connecticut, the firm hired Frederick Leonard and his son Charles . The team was previously affiliated with Wells Fargo Advisors. The team $105 million in AUM, according to their new employer.

Frederick Leonard has 37 years of industry experience and has worked at Shearson Lehman Hutton and A.G. Edwards, according to BrokerCheck records. Charles Leonard commenced his career in 2014 while attending the University of Rhode Island.

In Miami, advisors Karl Ernst and Roberto Rosa left Wells Fargo to join Janney. They have $196 in AUM, according to Janney.

Ernst started his career at Merrill Lynch 1990, according to BrokerCheck records. Rosa, a 31-year industry veteran, moved to Merrill Lynch in 2001 from PaineWebber. They moved to Wells Fargo in 2009.

A spokeswoman from Wells Fargo declined to comment on the departures. Merrill Lynch did not respond to a request for a comment.
