Janus Launches Alternatives Fund

Janus Capital Group has launched the Janus Diversified Alternatives Fund (DAF), which will bet on the equity, fixed income, commodity, and currency asset classes.

According to a Jane Ingalls, spokesperson for the firm, Janus launched the strategy “to address a common challenge among investors: creating a portfolio that is truly diverse and offers effective risk management.”

“DAF is an alternative strategy that invests in sources of return that are overlooked by traditional asset allocation models. Rather than investing in asset classes, the investment team analyzes risk exposures and invests in a dynamically weighted portfolio of risk premia, including currency momentum, global credit and rates momentum,” Ingalls told Money Management Executive.

Andy Weisman and John Fujiwara are the portfolio managers of the fund, which sports a net expense ratio of 150 basis points.

At the end of September, JCG managed $158.2 billion in assets for shareholders, clients and institutions globally.
