MFS to Allow Shareholders to Buy Additional Shares Online

MFS Mutual Funds of Boston will soon be offering a service that will allow fund holders to use the firm's website to purchase additional shares of funds they already own, a firm spokesperson said.

The service will be available by December on MFS Access, the firm's online service that allows shareholders to view their accounts, see their account history, and make exchanges into other MFS funds, said David Oliveri, a firm spokesperson.

The ability to buy shares online is limited to existing shareholders. MFS will still require initial purchases of mutual funds to be made through a broker, Oliveri said.
