Money Funds Lose $12 Billion

Total money market mutual fund assets decreased by $12.32 billion to $2.679 trillion for the week ended Wednesday, February 13, according to the Investment Company Institute.

Retail money market funds dropped $4.89 billion to $911.05 billion. Taxable government money market fund assets fell by $20 million to $195.36 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $2.65 billion to $517.81 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets decreased by $2.22 billion to $197.88 billion.

Investors also redeemed $7.43 billion from institutional money market funds. Among institutional funds, taxable government money market fund assets increased by $620 million to $726.70 billion, taxable non-government money market fund assets decreased by $7.28 billion to $959.93 billion, and tax-exempt fund assets decreased by $770 million to $81.56 billion.
