OCC Exec Named to Key Post in War on Terror

The vice chairman of The Options Clearing Corporation has a new Chicago-based position as vice chairman of the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council for Critical Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security.

George S. Hender has accepted the position, and will report to Chairman Donald F. Donahue, who was appointed by the U.S. Treasury. Hender was appointed unanimously during a recent meeting of the CIP/HLS.

The CIP/HLS’s primary job is to reinforce the financial services sector in the event of terrorist attacks. It is comprised of private sector firms like Visa Inc. and financial service industry trade associations such as The American Bankers Association, and works with the Department of the Treasury, which handles the primary responsibility of the nation’s infrastructure.

"I'm honored to have been chosen for this position, and I look forward to working with Don and the Council to further strengthen our industry's resilience and protect our critical infrastructure," said Hender of his appointment.
