Old Mutual Hires Two Asset Management Execs

Old Mutual's U.S. asset management group has appointed Kevin Hunt as executive VP and director of sales, marketing and project development. In addition, the firm has hired Thomas Turpin as executive VP and COO.

Both are new positions. The executives will report to the firm's U.S. CEO, Scott Powers.

Hunt, a former Morgan Stanley executive, will oversee the group's channel-specific distribution efforts throughout the U.S. as well as distribution in Canada and Japan. At Morgan Stanley, which he joined in 1988, Hunt oversaw the firm's managed accounts business.

Turpin, meanwhile, will lead legal, compliance, finance, risk management and human resources divisions, as well as work with affiliates to establish best practices for the firm. Turpin previously worked at Putnam Investments where, starting in 1993, he worked as a chief administrative officer in the firm's institutional management group. In addition, he performed the same duties for Putnam's defined contribution and retail businesses and eventually became managing director and head of defined contribution plans.

"Kevin's specific expertise in the managed accounts area and Tom's in the defined contribution area will be key as we work to build certain channel-specific, coordinated distribution efforts," Powers said.
