Murphy was with OppenheimerFunds for eight years, most recently as chairman, and previously as chief executive officer and president. During his tenure, he expanded the company’s focus beyond traditional mutual funds to funds-of-funds and high-net-worth and institutional businesses.
Murphy served as the chairman of the Investment Company Institute. Earlier in his career, he led various businesses for
