Pioneer Bolsters Distribution in Europe, LatAm

Pioneer Investments ventures further into Western Europe and Latin America with a new hire today.

The Boston-based company announced that it has appointed AXA Investment Managers alum Jon Bailie to serve as head of those regions to lead Pioneer's distribution efforts there. Bailie will join the firm in April and will be based in London, reporting to chief executive officer Sandro Pierri. He will also be a member of Pioneer's Management Committee.

Bailie takes over this role from Pierri, who held this position ad interim following his appointment as CEO in July of last year.

Prior to Pioneer, Bailie served as global head of distribution for AXA and as a member of its executive committee. Previously, Bailie led the institutional business across EMEA for Russell Investments.

"We have a senior and successful team in place in Europe and Latin America and I am confident that under Jon’s leadership the team will continue to excel and achieve exponential growth over the coming years," Pierri said in a press statement regarding Bailie's role in Pioneer's growth efforts overseas.

An AXA spokeswoman said that chief executive officer Dominique Carrel-Billiard will take over Bailie's responsibilities at AXA while the firm looks to appoint a replacement.
