As part of its nationwide expansion, Piper Jaffray Cos. has opened a fixed-income securities sales office in Nashville. The Minneapolis firm now has fixed-income sales offices in 15 cities, including New York, San Francisco, Kansas City, Mo., Des Moines, Spokane, Las Vegas, Milwaukee, Seattle, Chicago, Cleveland, Lincoln, Neb., Denver and Portland, Ore. Kevin Heffernan and Kirk Manz are leading the office as vice presidents of investments. They are part of Piper Jaffray's financial institutions group and will provide fixed-income investment products and services to financial institutions, primarily in the Southeast. They most recently ran institutional fixed-income sales at Stephens Inc. in Nashville. Piper Jaffray also announced this week that Mark Zielinski has been hired as a senior vice president and a branch manger of its private client management business in San Francisco. He will be a member of the private client services operating committee and a regional director for the San Francisco Bay Area. Before joining Piper Jaffray, Zielinksi was a senior vice president at Wachovia Securities in Newport Beach, Calif.
