President of Fidelity Distribution Joins Harvard

Gail McGovern, president of distribution and services at Fidelity Personal Investments, a unit of Fidelity Investments, will leave the firm at the end of April. She leaves her post of three years for a faculty position at Harvard University's business school

McGovern oversees the retail mutual fund and brokerage businesses at Fidelity. Kevin Kelly, president of Fidelity Brokerage Co., will assume her duties after her departure and determine whether to replace or change the position, said Sarah Friedell, a Fidelity spokeswoman.

"She has helped to build Fidelity Personal Investments and its retail brokerage business into one of the major drivers of Fidelity's success. We are sorry to see her go," Kelly said in a statement.

Although McGovern will be missed at Fidelity, the move to Harvard and the educational setting suits the marketing executive, Friedell said. "She's very committed to education. Anybody who knows Gail knows this is a good fit for her," she said.
