The Principal Financial Group of Des Moines, Iowa is providing its 401(k) customers daily, personal rates of return at its web site. The breakdown shows 401(k) investors the rates of return for each holding in their 401(k) portfolios and for the portfolios as a whole.
Principal began offering this service to eliminate the confusion between stated rates of return for various investment options and the rate of return investors see in their statements because of the various weights of investment choices in their portfolio, said Angela Ellis, director of pension electronic data services at Principal, in a statement.
