Prudential Names VP Of Retirement Services

Prudential Financial has hired James King, Jr. as VP of investment services in the firm's retirement services unit.

King will head the division and oversee the firm's investment consultant team's efforts to provide services to defined contribution plan sponsors. He will also serve as a liaison between the firm's retirement services and mutual fund and annuities teams. In addition, King will help develop an asset allocation service for retirement plans called GoalMaker.

King will report to Paul Chong, Prudential's executive VP of business development.

King previously served as chief portfolio strategist for Merrill Lynch Defined Asset Funds. There, he managed the investment process for equity assets that were held in strategy-based equity products. He also oversaw asset allocation and risk analysis functions for the unit.

King has also held several other fund management positions, including those in fixed income and alternative strategies. He has also been a senior research analyst at Merrill Lynch and a consultant at Ernst & Young.
