Putnam Launches Global Sector Funds

Putnam Investments has launched a suite of nine international sector funds that will invest in stocks in the MSCI World Index. The nine funds are: the Putnam Global Consumer Fund, Putnam Global Natural Resources Fund, Putnam Global Energy Fund, Putnam Global Technology Fund, Putnam Global Financials Fund, Putnam Global Utilities Fund, Putnam Global Health Care Fund, Putnam Global Telecommunications Fund and Putnam Global Industrials Fund.

In conjunction with the launch of the global sector funds, Putnam has a new website devoted to the funds, www.putnam.com/globalsector. Commenting on the website, Putnam President and CEO Robert L. Reynolds said, “Building upon the industry’s first and only comprehensive suite of truly global sector funds, we aim to break new ground with an informative, interactive website that gives investors and their advisers the relevant, high-quality content, updated frequently, that they need to make wise investment decisions.”

In a meeting in Boston’s financial district with reporters on Tuesday, Reynolds and other Putnam executives said they are optimistic that the economy is improving.
