RBC Launches Unified Managed Account

RBC Dain Rauscher has introduced a one-stop parking space for clients with $250,000 to spend and the urge to simultaneously invest in mutual funds, separately managed accounts and ETFs. Called RBC Total Portfolio, the unified managed account will allow investors to either select pre-configured models or build their own investment style. The portfolio is the latest in the UMA trend.

The portfolio will be managed by Placemark Investments , which will help in the customization of the portfolios and the tax and risk management. Financial consultants affiliated with RBC Dain Rauscher will be able to start using the Total Portfolio in October, the company said.

Charley Grose, president of the private client group at RBC, said working with Placemark gives the company a bevy of options. "We considered closed-architecture products with more limited manager selections and features, but chose to work with Placemark to implement a service offering that will continually exceed our clients’ needs," he said.

The fast-growing UMA industry, industry research shows, could hit $1 trillion by 2007.
