RS Investments of San Francisco has named Yasuo Sakuma chief investment officer of RS Asset Management Japan in Tokyo. Sakuma will lead RS' development of equity products focused on the stocks of Japanese companies.

Sakuma previously spent 14 years with Dai-Ichi Kangyo Asset Management, where he managed both U.S. and Japanese equity portfolios holding approximately $800 million in assets.

"Since 1997, we have been providing Japanese investors with access to investment opportunities in the U.S. equity market through our Tokyo office," said Randy Hecht, CEO of RS Investments, in a statement. RS established the Japanese unit in 1997. "With the addition of Mr. Sakuma...we can now expand our investment management services in Japan to include opportunities in the Japanese stock market."
