S&P 500’s Blitzer Takes Home Lifetime Honors

Phoenix -- David Blitzer, managing director, S&P 500 Dow Jones Indices, took home the lifetime achievement award at The William Sharpe Indexing Achievement Awards Ceremony held today at IMN’s newly-named Global Indexing & ETFs conference (formerly the Super Bowl of Indexing Conference) in sunny Phoenix, AZ.

“David has served as a pioneering visionary for the indexing business since taking the reins as S&P’s index committee chairman in 1995,” said Alexander Matturri, chief executive officer of S&P Dow Jones Indices.

“He knew that for indices to serve as reliable benchmarks and as the basis for investment products, they would need to be developed and maintained with unparalleled levels of integrity and transparency. Only then would index investing grow and indices be recognized and trusted as legitimate, representative measures of market performance. Today, the foundation of our business is built upon these principles.

Other winners included:

Citi Rafi Bond Index Series for “Indexing Innovation of the Year” category;

Horizon Morningstar Hedge Fund ETF for the “ETF Innovation of the Year” category;

S&P 500 Low Volatility Index for the “Index Product of the Year” category; and

ProShares S&P 500 Low Vol ETF for the “ETF Product of the Year” category
