Stein Roe Mutual Funds of Chicago has removed the minimum investment requirement on its Young Investor Fund through July 30. During this period, an investor can open an account with a zero-dollar balance, as long as he pledges he will invest $50 a month over the subsequent 12 months.
Stein Roe is waiving the initial investment in celebration of the fund's fifth year. The fund, with 200,000 shareholders and $916 million under management, has delivered an average 27.27 annual return since inception.
